GOC 82 Division visits formations in Cross River, urges troops to remain disciplined

Maj.-Gen. Hassan Dada, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, has charged officers and soldiers of 13 Brigade Nigerian Army to be disciplined and professional always.

“Troop must continue to have an unalloyed loyalty in the discharge of their constitutional role,” Dada charged while addressing the troops during his operational visit to 13 Brigade’s Akim Barracks, Calabar.

The acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations of 82 Division, Lt.-Col. Jonah Unuakhalu, said in a statement on Monday that the GOC gave the charge on Sept. 6 while in his operational visits to formations and units in Cross River.

 

The GOC encouraged the troops to carry out their duties with commitment and dedication in order to provide an enabling environment which is crime-free.

During the visit, Dada on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, inaugurated the newly remodeled 13 Brigade Medical Center fitted with state-of-the-art medical equipment and 12 blocks of flats for corporal-and-below quarters.

Dada also charged officers of the Brigade to ensure that the facilities are put to the best use and make their maintenance to be of utmost priority.

In a welcome address the Commander 13 Brigade, Brig.-Gen. Everest Okoro, thanked the COAS for the provision of the resources for the execution of the projects.

Okoro also appreciated the COAS for giving his approval for the inauguration of the newly remodeled and equipped medical centre and the corporal-and-below quarters by the GOC 82 Division.

In the same vein, the GOC also inaugurated two blocks of 30 flats accommodation for soldiers at 146 Battalion Eburutu Barracks in Calabar on Thursday, Sept. 7.

 

Inaugurating the blocks of flats, the GOC thanked the COAS for the privilege to represent him and admonished the beneficiaries to make good use of the accommodation as proper maintenance of the structure would encourage appropriate superior authority to do more.

Meanwhile, during the operational visit, the GOC also visited 245 Recce Battalion, Afi Barracks Ikom; 130 Battalion (Rear) and 341 Artillery Regiment in Ogoja, Cross River State respectively.

During the visit, Dada commended the officers and soldiers for their doggedness and dedication to service.

He further encouraged troops to remain loyal to the constitution and be professional in carrying out their duties in line “with the set down Rules of Engagement and Code of Conducts in tandem with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy”.

 

The GOC said that Chief of Army Staff’s (COAS) Command Philosophy is “To Transform the Nigerian Army into a Well Trained, Equipped and Highly Motivated Force towards Achieving our Constitutional Responsibilities within a Joint Environment.”
