Director hails Gov. Mbah for appointing Sir Ohaa as Chairman, of the ESUT Governing Board

The Director of Enugu State Fire Service, Mr Okwudili Ohaa, has hailed Gov. Peter Mbah for appointing a seasoned technocrat, Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa, as Chairman, Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) Governing Board.

Ohaa told newsmen in Enugu on Friday that the appointment, which has been applauded by statesmen and residents, “is putting a round peg in a round hole”.

He said that Sir Ohaa had worked hard for the PDP at the national and Enugu State levels.

“Sir Ohaa championed and led various campaigns for PDP during the 2023 General Election and the party’s resounding victory at the polls in the state,” he said.

According to him, with this recent appointment, His Excellency Dr Peter Mbah has clearly demonstrated that he rewards party loyalty, hard work, commitment and sacrifice.

The director said that he was confident that Sir Ohaa would bring his many years of experience as a technocrat, who worked to the level of a Federal Permanent Secretary of the Federal Territory Capital (FCT) to take ESUT to a higher level.

“Everybody was happy when the announcement of the appointment was made. It was even celebrated more and virally in social media, which shows general acceptance and appreciation of His Excellency Dr Peter Mbah’s wisdom and action.

“In fact in the past eight years, there was no appointment that was celebrated like that of Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa as Chairman of ESUT Governing Board. Because everybody that heard about the appointment said Yes, This Is A Wonderful Appointment.

“It is good that people that have worked and have interest in the nation, state and people at heart are being recognized; and not people that pretend to have worked but are full of their personal selfish interest,” he said.

He noted that being a seasoned technocrat, Sir Ohaa is a detribalized Nigeria which he exhibited while working as a Permanent Secretary at the Federal level where he employed and accommodated all Nigerians.

The director said that he was optimistic he would bring such professionalism, hard work, industry, detribalisation and harmony to bear on the ESUT board and university generally.

“As His Excellency Dr Peter Mbah is taking governance to greater heights; it is good he has experienced and forward-looking people such as Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa to assist him achieve his good intentions for Enugu State and people in no distant time,” he said.

The Director said that the state fire service would strengthen its relationship with the university, which it entered into during the COVID-19 era after the state fire service fumigated the entire institution.

He said that the service had handled the maintenance of fire extinguishers in the institution and ensured that the university had usable and serviceable fire extinguishers.

“I have already written to the Vice-Chancellor and the coming on board of Sir Ohaa will further strengthen our partnership and take safety to a higher level in the institution,” he added.
