It’s Embarrassing For Policemen To Collect N100 From Drivers – Force PRO

The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has slammed officers who collect N100 on the road from motorists, noting that the act is embarrassing.

According to him policemen indulging in the act should stop because they are engaging in corruption.

Adejobi was responding to an X user who asked why policemen collect N100 from road users.

The user, alfredonah11, in a post on Wednesday had said, “Good morning my x brothers and sisters. Pl’s, I want to ask this for clarification. The N100 policemen collect on the road what is it meant for? Is it to complete their salary bcos they’re not well paid or buy touch light, uniform or pay rent cos gov. didn’t provide for them?”

In his response, Adejobi tweeted, “It’s pure corruption. It’s not allowed or acceptable. It’s condemned in its totality. 100 naira or whatever amount being collected by some policemen (not all of them) on the road is embarrassing and does not portray the police in a good light.

“The hatred and bad image of the police is tailored to this and some other isolated misconducts. Those you see on the road collecting dirty money do not represent our standards, values, and vision. It’s a matter of time. They will soon meet their Waterloo.

“The IGP detests that and is working assiduously to tackle corruption, misconduct, and unprofessionalism in the police. We will soon reveal the outcomes of IGP’s monitoring team’s operations across the country.

“We have recorded successes in that regard, and it’s a continuous exercise.
